Interesting article in the Charleston (WV) Gazette: "Addition of slots helped bring Derby winner to Chester". It mentions that slots in New Mexico have contributed to Woolley's career, as well as MTB's.QQnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15027056.post-34157746470599173372009-07-30T13:09:13.840-04:002009-07-30T13:09:13.840-04:00I've raced at Mountaineer, so I can understand...I've raced at Mountaineer, so I can understand your on again off again relationship....but things must be well this week with Mine That Bird in town...too...very good post and messagesid fernandohttp://www.sidfernando.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15027056.post-31486924776458060862009-07-30T11:49:16.712-04:002009-07-30T11:49:16.712-04:00I'm glad you enjoyed the visit! It was absolutely my pleasure!

As for Mine That Bird...I was a doubter after the Derby but was sufficiently impressed by his Preakness to admit I was wrong. Those folks that ridicule his racing in GRADE II WV Derby need to relax a bit. The race was deemed worth of a Grade II rating by the American Graded Stakes Committee - a group of folks that know a bit about grading horse races. Sure, they're not infallable, but for Mine That Bird's connections to choose a graded stake with a nice purse over what 'they' percieve to be the hallowed ovals of East Coast racing is snobbish at best and arrogant at worst. Heck the way the race is shaping up, he may not even win this one, but to denigrate the venue and the race is sad and petty.

You go, girl!Theodore L. Not everyone can get to Saratoga, Del Mar or Keeneland, but when the racing brings good horses to our local tracks, they need to be supported and celebrated.Celestehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17194000009793531005noreply@blogger.com
