Help Wanted


Racing at Presque Isle Downs is slated to start next September, but the track, run by MTR Gaming, is already accepting applications for a variety of positions. Job openings as varied as Jockey Room Custodian, Race Track Announcer, and Racing Secretary are listed on the track's Employment Opportunities page. Here's one job description you don't see very often:

POSITION: Simulcast Host
DEPARTMENT: Racing

POSITION DESCRIPTION: Candidate will do on-air commentary of thoroughbred races. Candidate will inform wagering public of up-to-date changes and developments during live racing card. Candidate will offer selections and attendant reasoning in an informative, entertaining manner. Ambassador of Presque Isle Downs Racing.

JOB REQUIREMENTS: Knowledge of thoroughbred racing, complete knowledge of WV Racing Rules and Regulations, on-air presence and excellent customer service skills required. Candidate is required to be able to obtain/maintain a Pennsylvania Racing License.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: High School Diploma, handicapping skills, excellent speaking and grammar skills required.

Wow, this would be too cool! But I'm afraid I just don't meet the requirements. My public speaking skills suck.And if a horse or jockey got hurt, I'd totally forget about the race still going on.Nope, don't think they'd like me much.
