Barbaro and me

After ruining all of my Derby picks (where was Cause to Believe, anyway?), Barbaro is apparently resting at home. USA Today notes that he's enjoying the equine equivalent of putting his feet up on the couch and watching TV with a cold drink at hand.

Me, too. The fast pace of a library conference requires a level of exertion few can maintain; by the end of the week, all of my early speed was gone, and like Keyed Entry, I barely made it to the finish line. (Those avid readers who want details of the raucous late-night cataloging sessions will have to purchase the Librarians Gone Wild video, 'cause I'm not telling!)

To recover from the relentless talk of digital books, metadata, and Library 2.0 (yes, that's really a topic!), I feel the need for a Black-eyed Susan, the official drink of the Preakness:

* 1 part Cointreau
* 1 part Mount Gay rum
* 1 part Vodka
* Pineapple Juice
* Orange Juice
Fill a highball glass with shaved ice, add the liquors first, then top off with equal parts of orange and pineapple juice. Stir and garnish with a lime wedge.
So, like Barbaro, I too will be heading off to Pimlico next week. Maybe I'll bump into the the Bug Boys there!

Just one thing -- do they have quinellas in Maryland?

QQ...Sorry, but it is a rare to see quinella betting on any races here in MD.....also, one one Bug Boy is in Maryland, the other hangs out around the New York circuit.
